Fixing Corrupt LCM Overrides

December 3, 2013 by: David Lai

Here is a quick reference that you can use if any of your LCM overrides do not work anymore.
Unfortunately LCM was not designed very well. Another bad design by SAP where I’m baffled by what the designers were thinking!

One of the most common reasons why this would happen is if someone changes something on the source LCM override.

For example if you were to change a source connection, you may notice that the LCM Override does not happen anymore during promotions.

Here’s how to fix the problem.

Step 1:

In Promotion Management, Go to Override Settings, Log into the “Destination” server and then delete the broken LCM Override. Log off the Destination Server

Delete bad LCM Override from Destination

Step 2:

Log into the Origin server and delete the broken LCM Override.

delete from origin

Now you’ll notice that if you press the refresh or scan button, the deleted LCM override will not come back.

From there you may wonder what the heck is going on?? How do I get that particular LCM override back?
I guess SAP should have asked the question on how users would know how to proceed to the next step!

Step 3:

The trick here is to go to Settings -> Manage Systems, delete the origin server, then re-add the origin server again.

remove and re-add origin

Step 4:

Now go back and open Override Settings, log into the origin server and press the scan button again.
You will now see the LCM override that you previously deleted.

Make it active, save and promote.

Then log into to the destination server in Override Settings, and you can now edit the LCM override again.

Finally you can perform a promotion and the LCM override should now work!
