I hope that other's who are in my position will learn from my post to openly publicize criminals like Frederick Carter.

In addition, this is not an un-common matter and consultants should ALWAYS sign a contract before accepting any work and receive a deposit up front as well.

Even going to small claims court will take a long time before you get to see any of your hard earned money.

I love that you openly called him out here. That is great.. and he obviously very much deserves this.

Luckily this was a week's worth of pay and not months. I have heard other horror stories from independent consultants waiting on months of back pay before ever seeing any money (however they usually were getting paid - not getting stiffed).

Hi Charles,
Unfortunately I do have a contract that he emailed to me but did not physically sign, saying that time was pressing which I trusted him on.

Anyways it was a tough lesson learned but I hope exposing Frederick Carter and having my story posted will help other Consultants be more cautious when taking on contracts.

Do you have a signed contract which which you can use to take him to court? Here in the UK we have a small claims court to deal with scum like this.

It would be tempting to email his boss at Frannie Mae, you've nothing more to lose.
